bleeding disorders ; haemophilia ; severe cardiac failure, children under 16 - Reye's syndrome

anaemia, asthma, allergic disease, hypertension; gout

dyspepsia (pain in mid stomach); haemorrhage

aspirin during pregnancy

- use antiplatelet doses with caution during third trimester, risk of haemorrhage

aspirin during breast feeding?

avoid - Reye's syndrome (accumalation of fat in liver , brain)

2-11 = 100-200mcg BD

12-17 = 200-400mcg BD

Headache, taste altered, voice alteration, oral candidiasis (oral fungal infection)

Chloramphenicol

Superficial eye infections e.g. conjunctivitis

dose of chloramphenicol

eye drops = apply 1 drop every 2 hours then reduce frequency as infection is controlled for 48 hours

eye ointment = apply at night w/ eye drops or 3-4 x day alone

side effects of chloramphenicol

angioedema ( swelling deep layers of skin), eye stinging, tingling (parasthesia), skin reaction, bone marrow disorders
