Cerebral cortex
Tempers our emotions, responsible for reasoning ability (weighing consequences), regulates the most complex behaviors and includes the frontal lobes.
Frontal lobes
sit at the front of the brain and are responsible for coordination of information from the other lobes. They are also responsible for speech, rational thought, personality, organizing memories, tempering emotions and allowing for appropriate social behavior.
Contains Broca’s area which is responsible for speech production
Temporal lobe
sits near temples just above your ears. Functions are auditory perception, language perception, memory, and some emotional control.
Contains Wernicke’s area that is responsible for language comprehension
Parietal lobe
located at the top of the brain. Holds the somatosensory cortex responsible for sensations of pressure, touch, temperature, and pain.
occipital lobe
Situated at the back of the brain. Is responsible for vision and visual perception.
