What is an espresso based drink?

How do you make espresso?

Small amount of nearly boiling water forced under pressure through ground coffee beans

Espresso

1/3 of the cup for espresso

Ristretto (stretto) espresso

Reduced (smaller). Half of a volume of normale. Finer grounds not different mL of water.

Normale

Standard (normal) volume.

Lungo

Long. Double the normale volume. Coarser grounds not different mL of water.

Doppio

Double espresso. Two shots of espresso

Americano

two-thirds hot water then one shot of espresso over the hot water

How do you make an Americano

Just hot water which has a shot of espresso. Pour the hot water first. Fill two-thirds of a cup with hot water and add one shot of espresso over the hot water.

Cappuccino

Equal portion espresso, steamed milk, and foam. Sometimes ground chocolate, cinnamon, or nutmeg.

Latte

One shot of espresso, steamed milk, then minimal amount of milk foam (used to create latte art).

Mocha

A shot of espresso, small part of hot chocolate (or chocolate syrup), topped with steamed milk and milk foam.

How do you make a mocha?

To make the perfect mocha, extract one shot of espresso into a cup. Add one spoon of chocolate powder into the espresso and mix. Top it up with steamed milk and around 3 cm of milk foam. If you like, you can sprinkle chocolate powder on top.

Cortado

Espresso with an equal amount of steamed milk

Flat White

Shot of espresso then a little bit more of steamed milk than a cortado

Macchiato

An espresso with the tiniest dollop of milk foam

Con Panna ( or cafe vienne, cafe viennios)

Shot of espresso with whipped cream on top

Affogato

One scoop of vanilla ice cream and one shot of espresso poured on top

Irish Coffee

Shot of espresso, little bit of whiskey, fresh cream, and 1 tsp of brown sugar

Cafe Au Lait
