Seasons
The seasons are caused by the tilt of Earth's axis relative to its orbit around the Sun, which leads to variations in sunlight intensity and duration across different latitudes throughout the year.
Moon's phases
The Moon's phases are caused by its orbit around Earth, which causes different portions of the Moon to be illuminated by the Sun as viewed from Earth.
Celestial/Celestial Equator
The celestial sphere is an imaginary sphere surrounding Earth, onto which all celestial objects appear to be projected. The celestial equator is the projection of Earth's equator onto this sphere, while the ecliptic is the apparent path of the Sun across the celestial sphere as it orbits Earth.
rotation vs revolution
Rotation refers to the spinning of an object around its own axis, while revolution is the movement of an object in a circular path around another object, such as a planet orbiting the Sun.
Constellations and Zodiac Constellations
A constellation is a group of stars that forms a recognizable pattern in the night sky, often representing mythological figures or animals. The zodiac constellations are special because they lie along the ecliptic, the path that the Sun appears to follow through the sky over the course of a year.
Moon Phase Cycle
It takes about 30 days for the Moon to go through a complete cycle of phases.
Lunar and Solar Eclipses
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth and blocks the Sun. A lunar eclipse occurs when Earth passes between the Sun and Moon and Earth's shadow falls on the Moon.
Monthly Eclipses
The Moon's orbit is tilted relative to Earth's orbital plane, so the Sun, Earth, and Moon usually aren't aligned closely enough to produce an eclipse.
