V + (으)고자

ex: 한국어 배우고자 한국에 왔다.

Structure: v stem + 자마자
ex: 집에 독착하자마자 잤어요.

더라도

Even if / even though
- Expresses that something will happen regardless of a particular condition.

structure: v/adj stem + 더라도
ex: 비가 오더라도 갈 거예요. / 바지는 예쁘지 않더라도 살 거예요.

-는 대신(에)

Instead of / in exchange for
- replacing one action with another or receiving something in exchange.

structure: v stem + 는 대신(에) / N + 대신(에)
ex: 숙제 하는 대신(에) 게임했어요. / 컴푸터 대신 엑스복스 받았어요.

-기 위해서

In order to, for the purpose of..

structure: v stem + 기 위해서
ex: 시험 잘 보기 위해서 열심히 공부하고 있어요.

structure: v stem + ㄴ/는 지 얼마 안 되어 / 됐어요.

-(으)니

same as -아/어서 and -(으)니까, but tends to sound slightly more formal or used in writing
structure stem + (으)니
ex: 시간이 없으니 빨리 가요 / 내일 시험이 있으니 공부해야 해요.

-(으)ㄴ/는 셈이다

It's practically / It's as good as
Used when something isn't necessarily literally true, but can reasonably be considered true.

structure: verb + 은/는 셈이다
adj + (으)ㄴ 셈이다
N+(이)ㄴ 셈이다.

ex: 돈을 다 썼으니까 아무것도 안 남긴 셈이에요.
이 시험은 쉬운 셈이에요.
5살 때 서울로 이사 왔으니까 서울이 고향인 셈이에요.
