Polymers = many
are protien, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acid
a polymer is made up of a chain of many monomoers linked together
Monomers (mono = one)
are amino acids, sugars, fatty acids, and nucleotides
these are mad (dehydration synthesis) or broken down (hydrolysis) over and over in living cells
large polymers are also called marco moelcules
dehydration synthesis
monomers joined during dehydration synthesis
chain monomers = polymers
enzymers speed up dehydration synthesis are called dehydrogenases
Hydrolysis
breaking of a polymers ie adding water to polyers
enzymers speed up dehydration synthesis are called hydrogenases
Monomers (sub units ) to polymers
Sugars (monosacre) - polysacchairds
Fatty Acids (glyceil) - fats/lipids
Amino Acids - protien
nucleotides - nucleic acids
