PESO Model
A framework in modern PR and marketing communications that organizes all communication channels into four categories: Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned media.
Paid Media
Communication channels an organization pays for, offering full control over message and placement.
Earned Media
Coverage or endorsement an organization receives without directly paying for it, through newsworthiness or reputation.
Shared Media
Content and conversation on social platforms driven largely by audience engagement and participation.
Owned Media
Channels fully controlled by the organization, such as its website, blog, or official social accounts.
Media Amplification
The use of paid promotion to extend the reach of content that originated as earned or shared media.
User-Generated Content (UGC)
Content created by an organization's audience rather than the organization itself, a key driver of shared media.
