Continental Crust
The thicker and less dense outer layer of Earth's crust where landmasses exist.
Oceanic Crust
The thinner and denser outer layer of Earth's crust located beneath oceans.
Mantle
A very thick layer beneath the crust made of hot, semi-solid rock whose movement helps drive plate movement.
Outer Core
Layer of Earth mainly made of liquid iron and nickel whose movement produces much of Earth's magnetic field.
Inner Core
Layer of Earth made of solid iron and nickel that remains solid under enormous pressure despite being extremely hot.
Atmosphere
The layer of gases surrounding Earth.
Hydrosphere
All the water on Earth, including oceans, rivers, lakes, groundwater, glaciers, and water vapour.
Lithosphere
The solid outer part of Earth, including the crust and uppermost mantle.
Biosphere
All parts of Earth where living things exist.
