What is Newton’s Third Law?
FAB = -FBA
Definition: Force
Interaction between 2 objects
For every force, there should an object ___ a force, and object that ___ the force
gives, receives
Definition: Static Friction
Frictional force that prevents motion between 2 surfaces
What determines the direction for static friction?
The direction of the object is going in relation to a surface. The direction is OPPOSITE the object
What determines the magnitude for static friction?
It makes the net force 0 until max static friction is met. In other words, it can’t be large enough that the object moves
Definition: Kinetic/Sliding Friction
The resistance of relative motion between 2 surfaces that are sliding past each other
What happens once static friction reaches it max?
The friction changes into kinetic and moves from its location
No longer stationary
