What is Paget's disease?
Excessive or haphazard bone deposit and reoprtion
What is the newly formed, hastily made bone called
Pagetic Bone; it has an abnormally high amount of spongy bone compared to compact bone
What does Pagets Disease result in
Spotty weakening of bones
What do the bone cells do in someone with Paget's disease
Late in the disease, osteoclast activity wanes. Osteoblasts continue to work and often form irregular bone thickenings or filling marrow cavity with pagetic bone
Where does Paget's disease impact the individual
it can occur anywhere, but it usually localized. The spine, pelvis, femur, and skull and more often involved
Who does Paget's disease impact
it rarely occurs before the age of 40, and tends to impact older people. 3% of North American Elderly have it.
What causes Paget's disease
Its cause is unknown, but a virus may trigger it.

Drug therapies, like bisphosphonates and calcitonin
