What is the primary mode of interaction with color tiles in the Chromo app for the initial exercise?
Free exploration and sorting them in any preferred order.
What kind of colors are involved in the first sorting exercise after free exploration in Chromo?
Separating achromatic colors (black, white, gray) from chromatic colors (colors with hue).
In the Chromo 'hue family' diamond arrangement, where should the vivid color be placed?
On the right side of the diamond.
How are the dark, pale, and muted colors arranged in relation to the vivid color in Chromo's hue family diamond sort?
Dark on the bottom, pale on the top, and muted on the left.
What are the three perceptual attributes that define a color's appearance?
Hue, lightness (or value), and chroma.
How is 'hue' defined as a color attribute?
It is the predominant quality of a color, describing its characteristic of being reddish, yellowish, greenish, etc.
Which colors are considered 'achromatic' and lack a hue?
Blacks, whites, and grays.
What are 'near neutral colors'?
Colors that are very muted and close to gray, but still possess a slight tint of a hue.
What does 'lightness' describe in terms of color attributes?
It describes how light or dark a color looks, ranging from white (highest lightness) to black (lowest lightness).
What is the blackest known material mentioned in the lecture?
Vantablack.
What does 'chroma' (also known as saturation or purity) refer to?
It refers to the degree of colorfulness or vividness of a color, judged against an achromatic gray.
Which specific hue generally exhibits the highest maximum chroma?
Yellow.
Why are color models presented in three-dimensional shapes considered more useful than two-dimensional color wheels?
They allow for the visualization and organization of all three perceptual attributes of color: hue, lightness, and chroma.
What is the primary purpose of color ordering systems like the Munsell system in manufacturing?
To provide a standardized and numerical way to specify exact hue, lightness (value), and chroma for colors.
In traditional color theory, what is a 'tint'?
A pure hue mixed with white paint.
In traditional color theory, what is a 'shade'?
A pure hue mixed with black paint.
According to traditional color theory, what is a 'tone'?
A pure hue mixed with gray paint.
