Rule 19 (§ 83.19)

The Inland Steering and Sailing Rule governing the conduct of vessels in restricted visibility.

Rule 19 Application (§ 83.19(a))

Applies to vessels not in sight of one another when navigating in or near an area of restricted visibility.

Power-Driven Vessel Engine Readiness (§ 83.19(b))

Requirement that a power-driven vessel proceeding at a safe speed in restricted visibility shall have her engines ready for immediate maneuver.

Rules 4 through 10 Compliance (§ 83.19(c))

Mandates that every vessel shall have due regard to prevailing circumstances and conditions of restricted visibility when complying with Rules 4 through 10 (§§ 83.04 through 83.10).

Radar Detection Alone Course Alteration Restrictions (§ 83.19(d))

Action Upon Hearing Fog Signal Forward of the Beam (§ 83.19(e))

Requirement that, except where risk of collision does not exist, a vessel hearing a fog signal forward of her beam shall reduce speed to the minimum at which she can be kept on course, take all way off if necessary, and navigate with extreme caution until danger of collision is over.
