Conductor
a material allowing currents to flow through it easily
Insulators
materials that do not normally allow a current to pass through them, such as plastic and rubber
Current electricity
electricity made up of net charges in motion aroud a circuit
Simple circuit components
energy source, load/energy user (resistance), wires, switch
Electric current
moving charges, measured in Ampere
Ammeters
measure currents in ampere by being placed directly in their path
Movement of electricity
from negative terminal to positive terminal of voltage source
Voltage
a measure of available energy to push charges around a circuit, and the amount of energy released by an energy user
Series circuit
two globes are arranged one after another, meaning voltage is shared between the two, but current is not, if one blows the cicuit breaks
Parallel circuits
globes are arranged on seperate branches, one globe doesn’t break the other, voltage is the same, but current is shared
Power
the rate at which work is done, how much energy is transferred a second, measured in Watts (joules/second)
Energy
measured in watt hours
