Conductors vs Insulators
Conductors have abundance of electrons which make flow of current possible while insulators don’t have the abundance of free electrons
Electric field lines point in which direction?
Point in the direction a positive test charge would be pushed by the electric field.
Resistors
Restrict of limit the flow of electric current
Kirchhoff’s Junction Rule
The current flowing into a junction equals the current flowing out
Kirchhoff’s Loop Rule
The sum of the voltage increases and decrease around anysingle loop sum to zero
Capacitance
Ability of a system to store electric charge per unit of voltage
Voltmeter
Connected in parallel with the circuit; helps read voltage between two points
Ammeter
Connected in series with the circuit; reads current
Ohmmeter
Measure resistance
What is the right hand rule for a particle moving through a magnetic field?
Thumb = v (velocity)
Fingers = B (magnetic field)
Palm = Force
What is the right hand rule for a current-carrying wire in a magnetic field
Thumb = I (current)
Fingers = B (magnetic field)
Palm = Force
What is the right hand rule for a magnetic field due to a current-carrying wire?
Thumb = I
Fingers (curled) = B
If the magnetic field symbol is X, what does that mean?
The magnetic field points into the page
If the magnetic field symbol is •, what does that mean?
The magnetic field points out of the page
