Power Transmission
The process of moving energy from a source to a load in a controlled way.
Mechanical Power Transfer
The transmission of power through direct contact forces between solid parts, such as shafts and gears.
Hydraulic Power Transfer
The method of transmitting power using pressurized liquids, typically oil.
Pneumatic Power Transfer
The use of compressed air to transmit power in a system.
Electrical Power Transfer
The movement of energy through electric fields and currents in conductors.
Torque
The turning effect produced by a force applied at a distance from a pivot point.
Pascal’s Law
Pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted undiminished throughout the fluid.
Efficiency
A measure of how much input energy is converted to useful output energy, represented as a fraction.
Flow Rate
The volume of fluid that moves through a system per unit of time.
Force
A push or pull that causes an object to move or change its motion.
Speed
The rate at which an object moves, often measured in revolutions per minute or meters per second.
Power
The rate at which work is done or energy is transferred, measured in watts.
Input Power
The total power supplied to a system or component.
Output Power
The power that is delivered or used by a load from a system.
Hydraulic Pump
A device that moves fluid and creates flow in a hydraulic system.
Bearing Failure
A malfunction of the bearing often caused by misalignment, wear, or lubrication issues.
Air Preparation Unit
A component that includes a filter, regulator, and lubricator to prepare compressed air for use.
Directional Control Valve
A valve that directs the flow of air to extend or retract pneumatic cylinders.
Compressor
A machine that compresses air and stores it for pneumatic systems.
Torque Relationship
The connection between force and distance that determines the torque produced.
Leakage
Loss of fluid or air through unintended openings, leading to reduced efficiency in systems.
Actuator
A device that converts energy into motion, such as a pneumatic cylinder or motor.
Flow Control Valve
A valve used to regulate the speed of an actuator by controlling airflow.
Lubrication
The application of a substance (like oil) to reduce friction between moving parts.
Cylinder Drift
The unintended movement of a cylinder when not actuated, often due to seal leakage.
Pressure Relief Valve
A safety device that prevents excess pressure in a system by releasing fluid.
Control Method
The mechanism used to manage the operation of a power transmission system.
