Saul’s Failures
Saul Disobeys Samuel’s instructions by offering an unauthorized sacrifice when Samuel fails to appear on time. Later, fails to carry out herem against the Amalekites. God says he regrets making Saul king, and Samuel announces that God has rejected Saul as king
David
God instructs Samuel to anoint, the youngest son of a man named Jesse, as Israel’s next king, but Saul retains power

Assyria
begging in mid 700s, Israel is threatened by the expansion of
Hoshea
when Assyria begins threatening Israel, a pro-Assyria Israelite; assassinates the king of Israel. Israel becomes a subject state of Assyria, and the king of Assyria rewards him by making him pupper king of Isreal
722 BCE
Hoshea later stops paying tribute and attempts to make an allinace with Egypt against Assyria, so the Assyrians invade and conquer Isreal in

King Hezekiah

Huldah
The prophetess tells Josiah that God will destroy Judah for its idolatry, but that becasue of Josiah’s repentance, the destruction will not occur durning his lifetime.
Babylonians
Durning Josiah’s reign, gradually replace the Assyrians as the dominant power in the region.

Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, launches another revolt, so the Babylonians besiege Jerusalem, burn the temple and the place, and take the remaining survivors’s into exile
