Dissolving
The general physical process of a solute spreading uniformly through a solvent to form a solution.
Dissociation
A specific chemical process where an ionic compound breaks apart into separate charged ions when it dissolves.
Soluble
Substances that dissolve in water to form a gel or solution.
Insoluble
Substances that do not dissolve and remain separate.
Strong Acids
Acids that dissociate 100% into ions, listed as HCL, HBr, HI, HNo3, HClO3, HClO4, and HSO4.
Strong Bases
Bases that dissociate 100% into ions, listed as LiOH, NaOH, KOH, RbOH, CsOH, Ca(OH)2, Sr(OH)2, and Ba(OH)2.
Weak Acids
Acids that are not strong.
Weak Bases
Any bases that are not strong, including ammonia (NH3).
Molarity Formula
The equation M=LMoles, representing molarity as moles divided by liters.
Dilution Formula
The calculation equation M1V1=M2V2.
