Jump cut
Instant change from one scene to another to show a backwards or forward jump in time
The cut
Series of cuts within the same sequence or scene
J cut
Cut occurs when the audio transition occurs before the video transition
L cut
An L cut is the exact opposite of a J cut
Cut on action
For continuity in between scenes for scene synergy
Cut on Dialogue
Between two characters speaking in a scene and in some instances a cut from dialogue shot
Beat on cut
Edit to the beat of music
Continuity editing
Time flows uninterrupted without any break in time or space from shot to shot
Cross cutting
Occurs when 2 scenes are shot in sequence but presented by going back n forth as a viewer you are watching 2 scenes in 2 different locations at the same time
Eye Line / Match
The direction and angle of vision of a character relative to the camera, where a character looks at something off camera and the camera cuts to what they are looking at
