Why were the articles of confederation weak?

Congress was unable to enforce rules and law, government was unable to collect taxes, only one branch of government, states had too much power, could not regulate trade

Shays' Rebellion, government was unable to regulate uproar and its people

Federalists

Supporters of the constitution, wanted strong national government, believed the Articles were too weak

Anti-Federalists

Opposers of the Constitution, worried that a strong national government would become too powerful
