1st Law of Thermodynamics
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transformed into another form of energy
Mechanical Energy
Energy of moving parts. The total amount of potential and kinetic energy in a system of moving parts.
Chemical Energy
Energy that is stored within chemical bonds. If the bonds are broken the energy is released.
Electrical Energy
The energy of moving electrons
Electromagnetic Energy
Light energy/radiant energy. X-rays, gamma rays, ultraviolet rays, etc.
Thermal Energy
The energy of moving atoms of matter. All matter has this energy because all matter is constantly moving
Sound Energy
A form of mechanical energy that starts with a vibration in matter
Nuclear Energy
Stored/coming out of the nucleus of an atom.
Work
When a force is exerted, and an object moves in the direction of that force. W=FxD
Power
The amount of work done in a certain amount of time. W/T
