Goes forever in both directions and is named using 2 points.
Segment
Part of a line with 2 endpoints.
Ray
Has 1 endpoint and goes forever in one direction.
Plane
Flat surface that extends forever, usually named using 3 noncollinear points.
Collinear
Points that lie on the same line.
Coplanar
Points/lines that lie in the same plane.
Congruent segments
Segments with the same length, indicated by the symbol ≅.
Segment Addition Postulate
States that if B is between A and C, then AB + BC = AC.
Midpoint Formula
The formula to find the midpoint: (\left(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2}\right)).
Distance Formula
The formula to find the distance: (d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}).
Perimeter
Distance around a figure.
Area of a Rectangle
Calculated with the formula A=LW.
Angle
Formed by two rays with a common endpoint called the vertex.
Complementary Angles
Two angles that add up to 90°.
Supplementary Angles
Two angles that add up to 180°.
Vertical Angles
Opposite angles formed by intersecting lines, which are always congruent.
Inductive Reasoning
Making general conclusions based on specific examples.
Deductive Reasoning
Reaching specific conclusions based on known facts or rules.
Postulate
A statement accepted as true without proof.
Addition Property of Equality
If (x=5), then (x+3=8).
Distributive Property
The property that states (a(b+c)=ab+ac).
