What is the danger of developing morally bad habits, called vices? Provide an example with your answer.

  • Vices are dangerous because they make it easier to unconsciously commit sins.

  • Always forgetting pencils → stealing class pencil → find that it’s so much easier to just not have to worry about bringing a pencil to school → keep stealing pencils

  • Feel bad about yourself → Brag about how you’re better than others → feel better → keep on putting down others to cope, sometimes you don’t even mean to

Describe two principles that support the development of a just society.

  • Human dignity - a human life’s infinite value from being made in the likeness of God. Preserving dignity should be the most important priority in a just society’s laws and structure. It also creates human rights.

  • Common good - social conditions that allow everyone to meet basic need and achieve fulfillment. By being attentive to the common good, society can guide us toward heaven and not violate every person’s dignity.

Together, build a framework for what to strive for and build a society around.
