Vocabulary flashcards covering the phases of matter, density, boiling point, and distillation based on the lecture notes.
Solid
The phase of matter where particles are tightly packed and have a fixed shape and volume.
Liquid
The phase of matter where particles are close but can slide past each other, taking the shape of their container.
Gas
The phase of matter where particles have the highest kinetic energy and fill any space completely.
Density
The measurement of how much mass is packed into a specific volume (Mass divided by Volume).
Boiling Point
The constant temperature at which a liquid changes completely into a gas.
Distillation
A laboratory technique used to separate mixtures based on the different boiling points of their liquids.
