Ribosomes
Organelles responsible for protein synthesis, composed of RNA and proteins, found in the cytosol or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
A network of membranes involved in protein synthesis, lipid metabolism, and detoxification, with two types - smooth ER for lipid synthesis and rough ER with ribosomes for protein synthesis.
Endomembrane System
Regulates protein traffic and metabolic functions, consisting of the nuclear envelope, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, vacuoles, and plasma membrane.
Nucleus
Contains genetic material, surrounded by a nuclear envelope, with structures like the pore complex, nuclear lamina, chromosomes, chromatin, and nucleolus for various functions.
Eukaryotic Cells
Organisms with DNA enclosed in a nucleus, membrane-bound organelles, supporting specific metabolic functions, larger than prokaryotic cells, and sharing most organelles between plant and animal cells.
