Lacrimal Gland
Located above the eye, it secretes tears and enzymes.
Conjunctiva
A thin membrane that covers the eye; inflammation is known as conjunctivitis or pink eye.

The structural layers of the eye, including fibrous, vascular, and sensory layers.
Myopia
Near-sightedness, where difficulty seeing far away is due to the eye being too long, causing images to focus short of the retina.
Hyperopia
Far-sightedness, where difficulty seeing close up is due to the eye being too short, causing images to focus behind the retina.
Astigmatism
A condition where the cornea has an irregular shape, resulting in part of the field of view being out of focus.
Floaters
Cells that break off from capillaries and create an optical illusion in the eye; they appear to float but do not actually move.
Cataracts
Clouding of the lens due to clumping of damaged tissue, commonly associated with aging.
Cataract Surgery, Phacoemulsification
A safe, common, and highly successful outpatient procedure to remove a cloudy lens and replace it with an artificial intraocular lens.
Glaucoma
A condition characterized by abnormally high pressure in the eye that can damage the optic nerve.
