IGJJA

I currently work at a sports facility as a sales operations assistant as well as a children’s coach. In a typical day, I track new leads and follow up with them, resolve membership and billing issues, and troubleshoot membership problems in our CRM app. Later on in the day, I “change coats” and work as a children’s coach where I teach classes and coach kids during sparring. I help people of all ages, whether they’re solving a problem or learning a skill, and I enjoy it immensely because I see the real impact it has on their lives.

Redhawk Research LLC

Redhawk Research is a data analytics company I interned at as a software engineer, and while I was there, my manager wanted me to create a full stack app that could potentially benefit the company. I built an employee timesheet application using React, Node.js/Express, and PostgreSQL, then deployed it to Google Cloud Run with Docker and also used Cloud SQL for data storage. Because it was my first time working with Google Cloud Run, I troubleshot a lot of connectivity issues between the app and database with Cloud SQL Proxy. But, I was able to successfully create the app, and it was super great to work in a close-knit team environment.

Paradise Cleaners

Paradise Cleaners is a dry cleaners I worked at as a receptionist. In a typical day, I would answer customer inquiries, check in/ out garments, as well as tag clothing. I also worked with the owner to organize and verify financial data in Excel for the monthly billing reports. It was also my first role where I learned to catch inconsistencies in data before they became problems.

ATA College

ATA College is a vocational school I interned at, and while I was there, the VP stated that their main goal was recruiting more students and therefore becoming more profitable. To find inefficiencies within their current systems, I analyzed firm-wide processes by interviewing employees, completed a SWOT analysis, and building data flow diagrams. Based on what I found, I suggested focusing on improving employee communication and consistently tracking KPIs. To do that, I recommended integrating HubSpot Sales because it would do everything I previously mentioned including automating the admissions process. I would say this project was super fun because it was the first project of this size that I took on by myself.

KafHerder

KafHerder is an open source developer tool my team and I built during Codesmith. We were tasked with creating a developer tool, and as I was researching I found that Kafka had the limitation of being unable to decrease the amount of partitions in a cluster while keeping data integrity so we attempted to create a tool to solve this problem. To build it, I used Redux, Node.js, Docker, Apache Kafka, and Prometheus. In the end, we created an application that can safely reduce partitions while monitoring metrics during the process.
