Clavicular Head: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle; Sternocostal Head: anterior surface of sternum, T1-T6 costal cartilages, aponeurosis of external oblique muscle

Pectoralis Major - Insertion

Lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of humerus

Pectoralis Major - Peripheral Innervation

Lateral pectoral nerve; medial pectoral nerve

Pectoralis Major - Action

Shoulder add and IR. Additionally, clavicular head flexes shoulder; sternocostal head extends shoulder from a flexed position.

Pectoralis Minor - Origin

3rd-5th ribs near their costal cartilages

Pectoralis Minor - Insertion

Coracoid process of scapula

Pectoralis Minor - Peripheral Innervation

Medial pectoral nerve; Lateral pectoral nerve

Pectoralis Minor - Action

Assists in scapular depression and downward rotation

Serratus Anterior - Origin

External surfaces of lateral 1st- 8th ribs

Serratus Anterior - Insertion

Anterior surface of medial border of scapula

Serratus Anterior - Peripheral Innervation

Long Thoracic Nerve

Serratus Anterior - Segmental Innervation

C5, C6, C7

Serratus Anterior - Action

Scapula protraction; part of force couple with upper and lower trapezius that produces scapular upward rotation. Also helps to hold scapula against thoracic wall.
