Intermolecular Force in Solids
The very strong attractive force between molecules that prevents them from moving from one place to another, giving solids a definite shape and a definite volume.
Intermolecular Space
The space between the molecules of a substance, which is very small in solids, larger in liquids, and very large in gases.
Liquid State
A state of matter characterized by weaker intermolecular forces and larger spaces than solids, having a definite volume but no definite shape, taking the shape of the vessel it is kept in.
Gaseous State
A state of matter where intermolecular forces are extremely weak and intermolecular spaces are very large, resulting in neither a definite shape nor a definite volume.
Pressure Exerted by a Gas
The force exerted per unit area on the walls of a container caused by the continuous collisions of gas molecules moving freely in all directions.
Formula for Pressure
The mathematical relationship defined as Pressure=AreaForce.
