A civil war begins in 1640, monarchy vs parliment.
What happens after King Charles I tries to run away?
He gets captured, then beheaded despite the belief in the divine right of the king in 1649.
After Oliver Cromwell, who was put into power and what happens?
Oliver Cromwell’s son is put into power, but he is unable to maintain it. Because of this, King Charles II becomes king, leading to the restoration of monarchy in 1660.
What happens to the restoration of the monarchy?
The throne is diminished, the king is dependent on Parliament, and England becomes a constitutional monarchy.
