What is the Structural Frame?

The structural frame is how the painting is made and what the artist used to create the artwork. This could be things such as the type of paint, texture, colour and shade. It also means the dimensions of the work, the date and the citation.

Line, Texture, Tone, Colour, Shape.

What is the Cultural Frame?

The cultural frame is what has inspired the artist to make the artwork and what they have done. It takes into interest the influence certain things had on the artwork such as culture, religion, race or class issues, taste, etc.

What is the Subjective Frame?

What the subject of the painting is about. It compromises mainly about the feelings and emotions that are expressed in the artwork. It also is about the audience’s response and interpretation.

What is the Postmodern Frame?

This is art that was made after the modern times. Traditional ideas are challenged. Things such as appropriation, and the use of humor and irony.
