Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)
An inherited disorder characterized by numerous fluid-filled cysts on both kidneys.
Salt Wasting
A condition where the kidneys are unable to conserve sodium, leading to high sodium levels in urine.
Symptoms of PKD
Includes abdominal distension, palpable mass, hypertension, lumbar pain, and enlarged kidneys.
Complications of PKD
Can lead to pyelonephritis, cyst rupture, bleeding, and chronic kidney disease.
Management of PKD Symptoms
Includes managing blood pressure with ACE inhibitors, increasing sodium intake when needed, and monitoring fluid intake.
