Agape
The fatherly love of God for humans as well as the human reciprocal love for God.
Atonement
The belief that Jesus’ death reconciles humanity to God.

A collection of scriptures that are sacred in Christianity.
Baptism
A religious rite of purification and admission to the church.
Creeds
A system of Christian belief.

God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
The triune being, one God but distinct in roles and functions.
Gospels
The teachings of Christ.
Grace
God’s unearned and undeserved favor, kindness, and mercy.
Hell
A place of punishment in the afterlife for people who reject God.
Heaven
The home of God, angels, and the blessed dead, a place of eternal happiness and spiritual fulfillment.
Jesus (Christ as Savior)
Considered God the Son, died on the cross for human sins.
Kingdom of Heaven
God's reign and rule in the present and future, also referred to as Kingdom of God.
Original Sin (Adam and Eve/The fall)
The inherited state of sinfulness that all humans are born with, stemming from the story of Adam and Eve.
Purgatory
A state of temporary punishment and purification for souls who die and are not fully cleansed of sin.
Redemption
The deliverance of humanity from sin and its consequences.
Resurrection
The belief that Jesus rose from the dead after his crucifixion.
Sacraments
Outward signs to convey inward grace like baptism, marriage, confirmation, etc.
Salvation
Being saved or rescued from the penalty of separation from God.
Trinity
The belief that God exists as one being in three co-equal, co-eternal persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
