Why is this book called The Outsiders?
This book is called The Outsiders because it is about a few main characters that really kinda don’t fit in with people like the greasers or the Socs.
What could the Outsiders be referring to in chapters 4-6?
Johnny and Ponyboy: they have both been on the run away from the greasers, they rely on the group more than anyone, and unlike greasers, Ponyboy likes books and movies, not ‘a tough & I hate Socs with all my heart’ type of greaser. Also Cherry: she is a spy for the greasers, she plays both sides; talked to Ponyboy and Johnny.
How does Ponyboy’s opinion on Dally change?
Dally doesn’t have those same qualities as the other brothers…he is a real hero. All of the bad things Dally had done makes Ponyboy hesitant. But by helping them escape, Dally shows his hero qualities in a different way.
Why does it change?
It changed because Dally took them out to Dairy Queen, making Johnny and Ponyboy like him.
