States
All power, has the right to rule itself, working economy and effective government. National gov has the right to rule
Sovereignty
The authority a state possesses to rule over itself, is not dependent on another power or authority
Nations
A shared culture/belief/heritage in a state, a distinct homeland (even if all of the population doesn’t live there), self determination is desired
Nation State
A soverign state with a homogenous culture
Multi-national state
A state with 2+ national homelands/nations living in it. Can lead to separatism (seperating a group based on gender/ethnicity/religion, ethnic nationalism (defines a nation by ethnic group/promotes an ethnic group) and devolution (moving power from main authoritiy to local govs)
Stateless Nation
An ethnic group without a designated homeland
Territoriality
The use of space to exert dominance: when a country is in the middle of another one
