Why is the advert taken in a mid shot

To emphasise her (a women in her thirties, not a celebrity) → targets ordinary women easier encouraging them to take part in sports

why is the background not in focus

• makes the character the main focus point → suggests the protagonist

• focusing on her and her movement, which shows what dancing truly looks like and that you can feel free doing exercise

What is the purpose of the central striking image

• Enigma code → Who is she? What can she do? → readers become intrigued to find out more

How are colours used

• She is wearing a green/blue (turquoise) → typically a ‘man’s colour’ → use of blue further subverts stereotypes

• suggesting inclusivity and challenging gender norms in sports and exercise.
