What 3 things do all cells have in common?
All cells have a plasma membrane, cytoplasm, and genetic material (DNA).
Eukaryotic Cells
are complex cells with a membrane-bound nucleus and organelles, including mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum. They can be unicellular or multicellular.
where are eukaryotic cells found
in animals, plants, fungi
where are prokaryotic cells found
in bacteria and archaea.
prokaryotic cells
are simpler, smaller cells lacking a membrane-bound nucleus and organelles and are typically unicellular. but have genetic material - always one cell
nucleus
contains DNA, genetic material - ditates what the cell is going to do
chromatin
form of dna found in nuclear membranec
chromosomes
condensed dna, stores and organizes gentic instructions (genes) used for cell growth
nucleolus
structure where ribosomes are made. found in the nucleus
ribosomes
cellular structure that leaves nucleus
synthesizes and makes proteins
ribosomes and organelles float around the cytoplasm
can be found around cytoplasm or sticking onto the rough ER
endoplasmic reticulum
network of membrane-enclosed sac and branching tubules found in cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells
rough er
smooth er
golgi apparatus
lysosome
mitochondrion
cellular respiration
cytoskeleton
microtubules
chloroplast
