1/6
Vocabulary practice flashcards covering cell transport concepts (osmosis, diffusion, tonicity, equilibrium) and molecular representations of photosynthesis and cellular respiration from Honors Biology Quiz 6 and lab activities.
Osmosis
The movement of water across a cell membrane.
Diffusion
The movement of molecules (such as sugar molecules) from a high concentration to a low concentration.
Photosynthesis
The process in which most plants use energy from the sun to make sugars.
Equilibrium
The condition in which particles are evenly distributed, but still moving across the cell environment.
Balanced Salt Concentration (7% vs. 3% Scenario)
The equalized salt concentration of 5% reached between a cell containing 7% salt and an outside solution containing 3% salt.
HYPERtonic
A solution that has MORS salt then the cell. the cell has less salt. water moves IN
HYPOtonic
solution has LESS salt then the cell. Cell has MORE salt. water moves out, shrivling the cell
