An insertion sequence (IS) is?
One type of basic transposon found in bacteria and it is made up of transposase gene flanked by sequences known as inverted repeats- sequences that are palindromes of each other.
Resolvase does what?
Assists in a copy-and-paste mechanism of transpostion that allows the transposon to be duplicated into a second location without leaving the original location
Are transposons found in prokarytoes or in eukaryotes?
both
What are several possible mutations caused by transposons?
gene disruption. The transposon is inserted into the gene.
Altered gene regulation due to changes to the promoter.
Aberrant splicing
