Hydrostatic pressure (HPc )
Capillary blood pressure. It is a non-pulsatile force that physically pushes water OUT of the bloodstream into the tissues
Osmotic pressure (OPc )
Protein suction force. Created by a concentration gradient that stays constant across the entire capillary bed to draw water in
Net filtration pressure (NFP) formula
NFP = HPc - OPc this dictates whether fluid moves out or moves back into the blood
NFP at the arterial end (positive)
Fluid is pushed out in tissues
NFP at the venous end (negative)
Fluid is drawn back in to blood capillaries
Blood pressure capillary chain
BP = HPc — NFP — volume of fluid pushed out (interstitial fluid) — volume returned to blood (rate of return)
