Habitat
The natural home or environment where an animal or plant normally lives and grows.
Ecosystem
A community of living organisms interacting with the non-living elements of their environment.
Adaptation
A body structure or behavior that helps an organism survive in its environment.
Camouflage
Coloration or patterns that help an animal blend in with its surrounding environment.
Predator
An animal that naturally hunts, kills, and feeds on other animals for food.
Prey
An animal that is hunted and eaten by other animals.
Shelter
One of the four basic habitat necessities that provides protection from weather and predators.
Space
One of the four basic habitat necessities that provides adequate territory to hunt, forage, and raise young.
Desert Habitat
An environment with an extremely dry climate, hot days, and cool nights, presenting key challenges like limited water supply and intense heat.
Arctic Tundra
An environment with freezing temperatures, strong winds, and permafrost, presenting key challenges like extreme cold and sparse vegetation.
Tropical Rainforest
An environment with a warm climate, high humidity, and abundant rainfall year-round, presenting high competition for light and food.
Ocean / Marine Habitat
A saltwater aquatic environment varying in depth and temperature, presenting key challenges such as breathing underwater, pressure, and buoyancy.
Producers
Plants or vegetation in an ecosystem that utilize sunlight to make food.
Primary Consumers
Prey animals in an ecosystem interaction model that consume producers.
Apex Predators
Carnivorous animals positioned at the top level of ecosystem interactions.

Ecosystem Interaction Visual
A diagram displaying the linear progression of energy from Sunlight to Producers (Plants / Vegetation), Primary Consumers (Prey Animals), and Apex Predators (Carnivores).
