Vocabulary flashcards defining geometric angle relationships and their properties when lines are intersected by a transversal.
Vertical angles
Angles opposite each other at the same intersection, which are equal in measure.
Linear pair
Angles that are side by side, forming a straight line, which add to 180∘.
Corresponding
Angles that occupy the same position at two intersections, which are equal in measure.
Alternate interior
Angles located between the two lines on opposite sides of the transversal, which are equal in measure.
Alternate exterior
Angles located outside the two lines on opposite sides of the transversal, which are equal in measure.
Consecutive interior
Angles located between the two lines on the same side of the transversal, which add to 180∘.
