Cadet Honor Code

We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does.

Form 2 (Holm Center Leadership Competency Evaluation)

An official evaluation document used mainly during Field Training (FT) and Leadership Laboratories (LLabs) to assess a cadet's leadership performance, military bearing, and Officer Leadership Attributes (OLAS). Rated as trait shown (+1), not shown (-1), or not observed (0).

Reporting In - Step 1

Salute and state, 'good [morning/afternoon/evening] cadet [rank/name], Cadet Miller reports as ordered', then drop salute after cadet acknowledges.

Reporting In - Step 2

When a question is asked, repeat the question followed by 'is as followed: ____'.

Reporting In - Step 3

Wait for a pause, then ask 'Will that be all sir/ma'am?'.

Reporting In - Step 4

Step back with left foot, salute, and greet again.

SALUTE Report

Protocol for reporting enemy movements, consisting of Size, Activity, Location, Unit/Uniform, Time, and Equipment.

SALUTE - Size

Number of hostile forces.

SALUTE - Activity

Account of enemy actions (movements, type of attack, etc.).

SALUTE - Location

Grid location, coordinates, landmarks, etc.

SALUTE - Unit/Uniform

Clothing, unit patches, vehicle identification markings, etc.

SALUTE - Time

Date and time of observation.

SALUTE - Equipment

Weapons, vehicles, and other gear carried by the enemy.

Rules of Engagement (5 S's)

Progressive steps of response: Shout (audible communication to warn), Show (show weapon/intent to engage), Shove (physically push, shove, or detain), Shoot (fire a warning shot), and Shoot (shoot to kill).

Force Protection Concerns (FPCONs)

A terrorist threat system overseen by the U.S. Defense Department describing measures taken by an installation commander to deter, detect, delay, deny, and defend an installation.

FPCON Normal

Applies at all times as a general threat of terrorist attacks, hostile acts, or security threats always exists in the world (Goal: Deter).

FPCON Alpha

Applies to a non-specific threat of a terrorist, terrorist attack, or hostile act directed against DoD elements and personnel (Goal: Detect).

FPCON Bravo

Applies when an increased or more predictable threat of terrorism attack or hostile act exists and is directed against DoD elements and personnel (Goal: Delay).

FPCON Charlie

Applies when a terrorist or hostile incident occurs within the commander's area of interest or intelligence indicates targeting of DoD elements, personnel, or facilities (Goal: Deny).

FPCON Delta

Applies when a terrorist attack or hostile act has occurred or is anticipated against specific installations or operating areas (Goal: Defend).

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)

Devices placed or fabricated in an improvised manner incorporating destructive, lethal, noxious, pyrotechnic, or incendiary chemicals designed to destroy, incapacitate, harass, or distract.

5 C's - Confirm

From a safe distance, look for IED indicators while attempting to confirm the suspected IED.

5 C's - Clear

Evacuate the area to a safe distance.

5 C's - Cordon

Establish blocking positions to prevent vehicle and foot traffic from approaching the IED.

5 C's - Check

Conduct 5 and 25 meter checks for secondary IEDs, assuming a found IED is bait and the real IED is near your 'secure' location.

5 C's - Control

Oversee the area until EOD arrives; clear and set up an entry control point (ECP) for first responders.
