Microscope
An instrument that has developed as science and technology have improved, allowing us to see things that are too small to see with the naked eye.
Light microscope
A microscope that uses light to form an image of a specimen and magnify it, allowing the observation of individual cells and large subcellular structures like nuclei.
Electron microscope
A microscope that uses electrons instead of light to form an image, providing much higher magnification and higher resolution than a light microscope.
Resolution
The ability to distinguish between two points, where a higher resolution produces a sharper image.
Magnification
How many times bigger an image is compared to the actual size of the specimen.
Structures visible under a light microscope
Individual cells and large subcellular structures, such as nuclei.
