resting sarcomere
myosin heads are ready + cocked
cocked head requires breakdown of ATP which breaks cross bridge
contraction cycle
calcium ions arrive from SR
active sites exposed
calcium binds to troponin
tropomyosin moves out of the way
cross bridge forms
connection/attachment b/w myosin + actin
myosin head pivots
power stroke: myosin head goes towards midline
ADP + P release
cross bridge detaches
new ATP binds to myosin head
myosin releases from actin
active site can now form another cross-bridge
myosin reactivates
free myosin head splits ATP into ADP + P
released energy recocks myosin head until next contraction
