What are the two integrative systems?

the nervous system and the cardiovascular system

In what body cavity is the cardio-respiratory system generally located?

The thoracic cavity. The lungs are dorsal because the are filled with air (less dense)

In what body cavity is the digestive system generally located?

The abdominal cavity. It lies ventrally because it has a lot of weight.

In what body cavity is the urogenital system located?

abdominopelvic cavity (it has parts in both the abdominal cavity and the pelvic cavity)

pelvic cavity contains the bladder, rectum, and parts of the colon, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries

The abdominal cavity contains kidneys and adrenal glands

What makes up the axial skeleton?

skull, spine, ribs, sternum

What makes up the appendicular skeleton?

limbs (thoracic and pelvic)

What is the function of the muscles?

to move bones relative to each other.

They do flexion/extension, adduction/abduction, and rotation

What makes up the central nervous system (CNS)?

the brain and spinal cord

What makes up the peripheral nervous system (PNS)?

The cranial and spinal nerves

cranial = originates from the brain

spinal = originates from the spinal cord

What makes up the autonomic nervous system (ANS)?

sympathetic and parasympathetic systems

What does the sympathetic nervous system do?

fight or flight

What does the parasympathetic nervous system do?

rest and digest

What makes up the cardio-pulmonary circulation?

1. Pulmonary circulation = right side; low pressure

2. systemic circulation = left side; high pressure

What makes up the urinary system?

Kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra

What makes up the immune system?

lymphatic system, thymus, spleen, tonsils, Hemal nodes, diffuse and nodular lymph nodes
