Acid-base balance
The homeostasis of the hydrogen ion (H+) concentration in body fluids.
pH
The measurement of hydrogen ion concentration in body fluids, where the numerical value is inversely proportional to the number of hydrogen ions.
Acid
A classification of body fluid characterized by an increased hydrogen ion concentration and a decreased pH.
Base
A classification of body fluid characterized by a decreased hydrogen ion concentration and an increased pH.
Cory Nelson
