Living things

Things that need air, water, and food to survive, and have the ability to grow, respond, and reproduce.

Plants

A broad group of living things that can be further classified into flowering and non-flowering types.

Animals

A broad group of living things that includes birds, fish, insects, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.

Fungi

A group of living things such as mushroom and yeast.

Bacteria

One of the broad groups of living things categorized alongside plants, animals, and fungi.

Never alive

A category of non-living things that have never possessed life or the characteristics of living organisms.

Once alive

A category of non-living things that were previously part of a living organism or were living themselves.

Characteristics of living things

Specific traits including the need for air, water, and food, and the processes of growth, response, and reproduction.

Non-living things

Things around us that do not grow, respond, reproduce, or require food, air, and water; classified as never alive or once alive.
