What is the formula to calculate moment?
M = F x d
What are the units of Force, Perpendicular Distance and Moment?
Force = N
Perpendicular Distance = m
Moment = Nm
What is the moment when the the distance is 0.5m and the force is 7N
3.5Nm
What is the principle of moments?
The sum of the anticlockwise moments = The sum of the clockwise moments
What is the Force of a distance of 20m and a moment of 800N
40N
What is the C of G?
The C of G, or the Centre of gravity is the point where all weight appears to act.
What is needed to be stable?
A low centre of Gravity and a wide base. (E.g, A car has a low centre of gravity and a wide base making it stable whilst Taylor Swift has a high centre of gravity and a small base, making her less stable.)
What is the method of finding the C of G in irregular shapes?
Suspend your shape freely, and place it on a pin. Use a plum line to show directly where underneath the for g is. Then draw the line, for every point that you suspend the shape by, the point when all lines cross if the C of G.
