Solution
A homogeneous mixture in which two or more substances are spread evenly throughout the mixture.
Solute
The substance that is dissolved in a solution.
Universal solvent

Diluted
A term describing a solution that has less than the normal amount of solute in the solvent.
Increasing surface area of the solute
One way to increase the rate of dissolving, done by crushing, crumbling, or cutting the solute into small pieces.
Rate of dissolving
The speed at which a solute dissolves, which is increased by increasing surface area or increasing solvent temperature, not decreasing it.
