Mitosis

splitting of DNA inside the nuclei

cytokinesis

the splitting of cytoplasm or cell

interphase

the resting phase between the first and second divisions of meiosis; the cell collects nutrients and prepares for the next phase (G1,S,G2)

prophase

the first stage of cell division during which the chromosomes become visible as paired chromatids

metaphase

the second phase of mitosis, where the nuclear membrane breaks apart into membrane vesicles, chromosomes inside form kinetochores (protein structures)

anaphase

the fourth phase of mitosis, where chromosomes move away from one another to opposite poles of the spindle

telophase

fifth and final phase of mitosis, the process where chromatids or chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell and two nuclei are formed

interphase
